Design Guidelines

All real property within the City is subject to a variety of regulations. Depending on your property’s location, it may be subject to additional design review approval by the Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB) or Corridor Review Committee (CRC) for redevelopment projects. There are two major sets of design guidelines used in St. Augustine to review applications for compatibility with the City's historic core and Entry Corridors.

Architectural Guidelines for Historic Preservation

The Architectural Guidelines for Historic Preservation (PDF) are applied to new development and redevelopment projects located within a Historic Preservation Zoning district (HP-1, HP-2, HP-3, HP-4, HP-5) or facing HP-1, HP-2, or HP-3. You may view a map of the Historic Preservation Zoning Districts (PDF). If you are ready to submit a Certificate and Opinion of Appropriateness Application (PDF) for a development project in an HP Zoning District, or facing HP-1, HP-2 or HP-3, please select the following application type: Opinion or Certificate of Appropriateness.

Design Standards for Entry Corridors

The Design Standards for Entry Corridors are applied to new development and redevelopment projects located along Anastasia Boulevard, King Street, and San Marco Avenue. If you are ready to submit an application for a development project in one of these areas, please submit a Corridor Review Committee (CRC) Application (PDF)
