Why are they a problem?

They can harm the natural environment by altering ecological processes, leading to a loss of biodiversity. 

What is the City of St. Augustine doing at Fish Island Preserve?

In 2021, the City received funding from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to treat the invasive non-native plants on the preserve. Follow-up removal efforts will be necessary.
