On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in conjunction with St. Johns County Utilities, the City of St. Augustine will host a special community recycle event from 7:30am-2:30pm. Residents can drop off used cooking oil, outdated and broken electronics, batteries, and holiday light strands at 25 W. Castillo Drive (Francis Field downtown). An additional drop off location for used cooking oil only will be located at 840 West 16th Street on Anastasia Island, behind the SJC Parks and Recreation Office.
Materials being collected at this event include used cooking oil, outdated and broken electronics, such as cell phones, tablets, PCs, hard drives, printers, and scanners; also, digital cameras, stereos, small electronics, batteries, and holiday light strands. Paper shredding is not offered at this event, and televisions, hazardous waste, and motor oil is not accepted.
City of St. Augustine residents should plan to set unadorned holiday trees curbside starting Wednesday, January 7, 2026, for pick-up with regularly scheduled yard waste collections. Light strands should not be disposed of in household recycling bins.
