- The City of St. Augustine will never ask you to wire money for permits or fees.
- These fake letters may look official, but if something seems off, like a demand for immediate payment or unfamiliar contact info, it’s likely a scam.
- If the email did not come from a citystaug.com email address, it is likely a scam.
What to do if you receive one of these letters:
- Do not send any money or personal information.
- If you think you may have been a victim of this or any scam, contact your bank directly, or contact the St. Augustine Police Department. To report suspected fraud to St. Augustine Police Department, call 904-825-1074.
- When in doubt, contact the City of St. Augustine directly using verified contact information to confirm permit status.
