Lighthouse Park boat ramp floating dock temporarily closed for repairs

Boat ramp will remain open; expect delays, limited access

News Flash Posted on November 19, 2025

Beginning on Friday, November 21, 2025, a work barge will be mobilizing at the Lighthouse Park boat ramp in preparation for upcoming repairs to the adjacent floating dock.  The floating dock will be closed to the public for approximately two weeks, starting on Monday, November 24.  In the event of extenuating circumstances beyond our control, or inclement weather, the project could extend into the second week of December.  The boat ramp will remain open, but boaters should anticipate delays or limited access due to interference with repair equipment.

During Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, wind-driven waves damaged the floating dock, including all the wood structural members and thru-rods.  Later that year, while awaiting FEMA reimbursements, the St. Augustine Municipal Marina received notification of funding from the Florida Inland Navigational District (FIND) for 25% of repair project cost and additional funds from the St. Augustine Port, Waterway, and Beach District (Port District) for repairs.

While the floating dock has remained safely functional, this project is now funded and underway to repair the damage.

Built in 2008, the Lighthouse Park boat ramp dock is located within 1 nautical mile of the St. Augustine Inlet which serves as the principal inlet for the City of St. Augustine, all of St Johns County, and adjacent inland counties.  The boat ramp allows access to the local waterways for the public, numerous charter fishing guides, recreational vessels, and commercial marine contractors.

Over the years the City of St. Augustine has also used the Lighthouse Park boat ramp to remove derelict vessels from the local waterways. The dock provides a safe and secure area to temporarily tie your vessel as you launch in and out of the water.
