Procurement Specialist receives Rising Star Award

City of St. Augustine Purchasing staff recently attended the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials annual conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida where Danielle Falkner, Procurement Specialist III, received the 2024 Rising Star Award.  This award is given annually to one public procurement professional selected within the entire state of Florida.

Falkner was recognized for her enthusiastic disposition and desire to learn and grow in the public procurement profession. Since joining the City in February of 2022, she has gained extensive experience with formal procurement actions, led negotiation teams to successfully award design and construction contracts, and taken the lead on ‘first time’ project methods the City has not experienced in the past.

Further, Danielle began formal training, tested, and achieved her Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) certification in October 2023 and National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) Certified Procurement Professional (NIGP-CPP) certification in May 2024.  In January, she also was nominated and elected to serve as Treasurer for the local Northeast Florida Procurement Association (NFPA) Chapter of the NIGP.

The Rising Star Award aims to honor an emerging leader in government procurement who has shown exceptional and continuous growth in their contributions to the field, as well as increasing levels of leadership and responsibility. Nominees should have a proven track record of leadership potential, demonstrated through their outstanding and ongoing achievements. They must have made significant contributions to their agencies and the profession as a whole.
