Visitor Information Center garden wins recognition

Florida Native Plant Society names “Garden of Honor”

News Flash Posted on September 18, 2025

The St. Johns Regional Audubon Native Plant Garden, located in the heart of the downtown historic district at the St. Augustine and St. Johns County Visitor Information Center, has been awarded “Garden of Honor” by the Florida Native Plant Society (FNPS). This recognition celebrates the garden’s outstanding contribution to native plant education, conservation, and community engagement.

Designed by Wacca Pilatka Landscape and maintained by volunteers from the St. Johns Regional Audubon, the garden showcases Florida’s rich biodiversity and promotes sustainable landscaping practices. It serves as a living classroom for residents and visitors alike, highlighting the importance of native species in supporting pollinators, wildlife, and resilient ecosystems.

To learn more about the garden, residents and visitors are encouraged to stop by the Visitor Information Center at 10 W. Castillo Drive.

For media inquiries, contact Melissa Wissel, Communications Director, at 904.293.3307 or via email at mwissel@citystaug.com.
