This year, the Fire Department deployed a new rapid response vehicle designed to navigate the historic core and provide immediate medical care. Outfitted with a full-size ambulance stretcher and an attendant seat, the vehicle allows crews to quickly treat patients and, if needed, transport them to advanced care. With only weeks to prepare before Light‑Up! Night, the City’s fleet department, led by mechanic and fabricator Travis Horton, customized the unit in house. The result was a cost‑effective solution that turned out even better than the original design. It is a shining example of the talent and dedication of our staff.
