St. Augustine Municipal Marina repairs begin Monday

Funding support provided by FIND and Port District

News Flash Posted on December 03, 2025

Beginning on Monday, December 8, the availability of transient slips at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina will be limited due to construction and repairs anticipated through March 2026.

During Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, the marina docks suffered considerable damage to the floating finger piers and the pilings.  While awaiting FEMA reimbursements later that year, the St. Augustine Municipal Marina received notification of funding from the Florida Inland Navigational District (FIND) for 25% of a repair project cost and additional funds from the St. Augustine Port, Waterway, and Beach District (Port District) for mitigation repairs.

In addition to replacing and strengthening all 29 dock pilings in 2024, this mitigation improvement to the docks includes replacing structural wood walers with 50% larger materials, concrete modular finger piers, and new steel reinforcements throughout.

Built in 2013, the breakwater dock serves as a wave attenuator with a site-specific design to provide vital weather protection to the marina and its guests.  As a result of its critical purpose, it is continually damaged by major storms and hurricanes.  With the impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, the damage to the docks has hindered the marina’s ability to operate at full capacity.

The marina provides deep-water fueling services, free sewage pump-out service, potable water, overnight dockage, and moorings for hundreds of recreational and commercial boaters, marine fire and law enforcement vessels and thousands of seasonal vessels ranging from 20 ft. to 200 ft.
