Coquina Park
Coquina Park is designed to serve as a passive green space that also provides flood protection and coastal resilience. Even before the devastating impacts of Hurricanes Matthew, Irma, and Dorian, the area continually saw increasing damage resulting from seasonal storm surges and nuisance flooding.
At its completion, the top elevation of the park is 7-ft. Several palm trees were removed and stored prior to the start of the project and have been replanted in the park. Additional components of the development of the park include:
- In-fill and grading
- Installation of irrigation system
- Two 70-gallon oak trees
- Retaining wall and privacy fence at the east end of the property
- Sod, plants, and landscaping
- Two benches installed with cement foundations, facing the water to overlook the water
