City implements electronic submittal of building plans

Software upgrade improves efficiency for contractors, architects, engineers, and others

Beginning March 1, 2020, the Planning and Building Department will begin implementing an electronic building plan submission procedure.  With a new software system migration currently underway, plans that require a review by the Planning and Building Department and the Fire Marshal will be accepted electronically.  This electronic submit process is not mandatory at this time, but electronic submission is encouraged.

Once the new software implementation is complete, all building permit plans will be required to be submitted to the Planning and Building Department electronically and in portable document format (PDF).

After March 1, 2020, individuals will use the Online Building Permit form from the city’s website.  Users will be required to create an online account in order to submit and manage the forms.

The Planning and Building, Public Works, and Utilities Departments, along with the Fire Marshal’s office, will switch to new permitting software across each of the departments during the calendar year of 2020.  This new software will allow for an online “one-stop-shop” for submitting development permits and applications, scheduling inspections, and receiving inspection results.

For more information or to inquire about submitting plans electronically, contact Shelley Clayton at sclayton@citystaug.com or call the Planning and Building Department at 904.825.1065.
