U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be available for questions
On Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, the City of St. Augustine will host its first semi-annual public workshop, in coordination with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District, in The Alcazar Room of City Hall, located at 75 King Street, beginning at 6:30pm, with a presentation of the study. At 7:00pm, the public will participate in the open workshop session, followed by a formal question and answer session from 8:00pm – 8:30pm.
This event is the first in a series of semi-annual workshops devoted to the St. Augustine, Florida, Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study. All members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide information regarding their past flooding experience, concerns, and suggestions. Comments will be collected for review and consideration as the study progresses.
The feasibility study is designed to develop, evaluate, and recommend solutions that address flooding in the nation’s oldest city, including the historic district and diverse neighborhoods within the city limits.
USACE and city representatives will open the workshop with an updated study presentation followed by an open workshop forum. Corps technical team members will be available to address questions related to engineering, environmental and economic particulars focused on the three major model reaches currently under consideration: Davis Shores Peninsula, the Downtown Peninsula and Western San Sebastian.
The workshop will be available streaming online at: https://www.citystaug.com/616/Watch-Meetings-Online and a recording of the workshop will be available on demand the following day.
