Altered solid waste collection schedule

Offices for the City of St. Augustine will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2023 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. In order to give staff  the opportunity to have the holiday off from work, the Solid Waste Division will be closed and the collection schedule will be altered. There will be no yard debris collection and residential solid waste collections will be delayed by one day. The altered schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, Sept 5 – Monday’s residential garbage collection
  • Wednesday, Sept 6 – Tuesday’s residential garbage collection; No residential yard waste collection
  • Thursday Sept 7 & and Friday, Sept 8 – Normal Residential Recycling Collection
  • Wednesday, Sept 13 – Residential yard waste collection resumes

Parking in city owned parking lots and on-street parking is free on all national holidays, including the Labor Day holiday, except for the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and the Historic Downtown Parking Facility. Drivers are urged to confirm if a lot is owned by the City of St. Augustine and not a private operator as many of those lots have strict towing policies.

Questions about waste pickup may be directed to Todd Grant, Utilities Director at 904-315-8499 or via email at  For information regarding collections services for St. Johns County, please call 904-827-6980.  For information regarding collection service for St. Augustine Beach, please call 904-471-1119.
