The City of St. Augustine is proud to announce the selection of Corey Sakryd as the new Director of General Services. Sakryd will succeed Jim Piggott, who retired after 17 years of dedicated service to the City.

The General Services Department is responsible for the support of both general government services provided to residents, as well as the internal departments that support the infrastructure of the City government.

Sakryd is a native of Florida and a retired 26-year Navy veteran. After honorably retiring from the Navy in 2016, he embarked on his career with the City, starting as an Information Host at the Visitors Information Center. During this time, he simultaneously pursued a degree in Public Administration at Flagler College and received the prestigious David B. Shoar award for academic excellence.

Upon earning his Bachelor of Science degree, Sakryd was appointed as the first Grant Administration Coordinator. In recognition of his exemplary performance, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Director of General Services, in 2021. In this role, he spearheaded the management of the Purchasing Division and demonstrated his expertise in successful grant applications, City contracts, and leases administration.

"It is a great honor to be selected as the next Director of General Services. I am fully committed to ensuring efficient and effective operations, while providing the highest level of service to our residents and staff,” said Corey Sakryd. “Additionally, I take pride in mentoring and guiding the next generation of municipal administrators as we collectively strive to guarantee the continued success of our historic City."

The City of St. Augustine welcomes Corey Sakryd as the Director of General Services and looks forward to his leadership in driving excellence, innovation, and continued progress.
