Arbor Day Ceremony to be held at Twine Park in Lincolnville
The City of St. Augustine’s Annual Arbor Day Ceremony will take place at 11:00am on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Twine Park in Lincolnville. Limited street parking for those who wish to attend the ceremony will be available nearby and residents are encouraged to walk or ride bikes.
To celebrate the city’s 40th consecutive year being designated a “Tree City,” this year’s ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Nancy Sikes-Kline, the planting of one Live Oak tree by city officials, followed by remarks from the Street Tree Advisory Committee (STAC) Chair, Freemont Latimer, and a poetry reading by the City’s Poet Laureate, Norma Sherry.
In addition to the sapling distribution at the Twine Park ceremony, there will be a drive-thru distribution of saplings from 10:00am to 2:00pm, or while supplies last, via the W. Castillo Drive Entrance of the Historic Downtown Parking Facility. This year, City staff will be giving away Persimmon and Flatwood Plum saplings.
Twine Park is located at 57 Lovett Street.
