St. Augustine’s visitors and residents alike enjoy the picturesque view of sailboats at anchor in the Matanzas Bay with the backdrop of the city’s skyline. Without a doubt, it adds to the character of a city that is not only the Nation’s Oldest City but also the Nation’s Oldest Port City.
The city’s charming ambiance not only attracts visitors with cars but an increasing number of visitors in boats. Among those visitors are many who choose to leave their vessels in the city’s waterways as live-aboard vessels either on a part-time or some as full-time residents, a scenario that has created a need for the city to develop a plan to manage its harbor.
The City of St. Augustine, assisted by the St. Augustine Port, Waterway, and Beach District has been developing a Harbor Management Plan for Matanzas Bay and Salt Run since 2005. Read information about the St. Augustine Marina by viewing the Municipal Marina page.
