CodeRed is a high-speed telephone emergency notification service capable of sending out pre-recorded Code Redemergency messages to 1,000 phones a minute.

Initiated by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, residents are notified of public safety issues by the CodeRed system. Other agencies, including the St. Augustine Police Department and St. Augustine Fire Department are participants in the system and take full advantage of its features.

Types of Emergencies

CodeRed is a geographical based notification system so that the appropriate city or county department can choose a specific area to be notified in the event of an emergency. Those events may include:

  • Dangerous water conditions
  • Evacuation notice and routes
  • Fires
  • Gas leaks
  • Missing children
  • Neighborhood Crime Watch support
  • Sexual predator alert
  • Utility outages
  • Water safety alerts

To register by phone, call the Sheriff’s Office at 904-810-6690 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. To register online, go to the CodeRed website and enter your information. Install the App on your mobile device, too!
