The City of St. Augustine’s budget hearings scheduled for Thursday, September 7 have been cancelled and will be rescheduled as soon as possible. The cancellation was made possible by an Executive Order signed by Governor Rick Scott waiving statutory timing requirements regarding millage and budget hearings. The meetings were related to the city’s two Community Development Areas (CRA), the Historic Area CRA and the Lincolnville CRA, and adoption of a tentative millage rate. Meetings in September will result in adoption of 17-18 city budget

Following last week's two days of meeting regarding the city's 2017-2018 budget, the City Commission now enters the final stages of adopting the related resolutions, holding public hearings and final adoption of the budget prior to the start of the fiscal year on October 1.

All meetings will be held in The Alcazar Room, City Hall, 75 King St. and will be available for viewing live and on-demand at

On Thursday, September 7 starting at 4:30pm, the Commission, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency, will consider resolutions related to the budgets of its two Community Development Areas (CRA), the Historic Area CRA and the Lincolnville CRA. Additionally, the Community Redevelopment Agency will vote on the Lincolnville CRA's Fix It Up Program and its Rehabilitation Program.

Then, immediately following that meeting, starting at 5:05pm, the Commission will discuss and then adopt a tentative millage rate, adopt its budget on first reading following a public hearing on the matter, and then consider the Five-Year Capital Improvement Program.

During the Commission's regular meeting on September 11, starting at 5:00pm, there will be first reading of an Ordinance related to Solid Waste Fees and a public hearing on the Resolution setting the Fire Assessment Fee along with its other business.

Lastly, on Thursday, September 21, in a meeting starting at 5:05pm, the Commission will adopt the final millage rate and hold the final public hearing on the budget prior to its adoption.
