Water and sewer adjustment notices mailed in September statements

Water Sewer Rate Change FY2018.p1As part of a long-term funding plan to support capital improvement programs and operations, while at the same time encouraging water conservation, the City Commission approved a multi-year utility rate structure that would automatically adjust each fiscal year, beginning October 1, 2015, for five years.  The objectives of the rate adjustment include:

  • Reduction of base rates – pay for what you use
  • Long-term plan to fund operations and capital programs
  • Encouraging water conservation – those who conserve and use less will pay less
  • Reducing the outside-city surcharge – 1% per year, reducing the rate from 25% to 20% over the 5-year period.

One of the most important responsibilities of the Public Works Department is to provide safe drinking water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  Public Works Water Treatment Division is dedicated to producing drinking water that meets all state and federal standards, while continually striving to adopt new methods for delivering the best quality drinking water to its customers. As new challengers to drinking water safety emerge, we remain vigilant in meeting the goals of source water protection, water conservation, and community education, while serving the needs to all of our water users.
