Comprehensive Plan

Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) of the Comprehensive Plan

Planning staff has initiated the required evaluation of the City's Comprehensive Plan.  The City is required to submit a letter to the State Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) by December of 2018 that outlines the status of the City's Comprehensive Plan, and indicates the need for any potential updates or amendments suggested by the evaluation.  The evaluation of the Comprehensive Plan and any subsequent amendments must include a public process.

Staff will work with the Planning and Zoning Board (PZB), the Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB), and the City Commission through the end of the year to identify any broad local issues that should be included in the update of the Comprehensive Plan.  This is a two (2) year process.  Evenutally the Goals, Objectives and Policies of the Comprehensive Plan will be amended based on the evaluation, updated data and analysis, and any mandated additional requirements.

The PZB held a Special Workshop on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 to discuss the Transportation, Infrastructure, Housing, and Historic Preservation Elements of the Comprehensive Plan.  The information for the meeting can be viewed by clicking here - packet.

The next Special Workshop scheduled for the PZB to discuss elements of the Comprehensive Plan is Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 9:00 am in the Alcazar Room, City Hall.  The packet information is posted here.

Building Condition Survey

Planning staff has initiated the periodic building condition survey of the entire City.  This survey is a windshield survey that includes the uses of properties, and the physical condition of any structures on a property.  This data collection is one of the first steps to update the City's Comprehensive Plan.
