How Do You Properly Display A Receipt?
The pay station will print a receipt that is to be placed on the dashboard of your vehicle with the expiration time visible. Also known as the “Upside-down Receipt” Citation: It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that the receipt is displayed properly when leaving the vehicle. If a receipt is not face-up with the expiration time showing a citation will be issued.

What Happens If A Pay Station Doesn't Work?
If an individual unit malfunctions a report is immediately sent to city staff (via computer) notifying them of a problem. In the meantime, customers can still park by purchasing a receipt from another nearby pay-station.
Can you receive a parking ticket while you are paying at a pay station?
There is no need to worry about being at a pay station and receiving a parking ticket since stations are within a reasonable, visible distance of the parking spaces. Before issuing a ticket, the Parking Enforcement Officers will check to see if anyone is using a nearby pay station.
What is a ParkNow card?
This is a card offered to St. Johns County residents for discounted parking of $ .50 an hour instead of the $1.50 an hour rate at meters and pay-stations, and $3.00 per entry at the Historical Parking Facility. These cards are available for purchase at the city’s Financial Services Center, 50 Bridge Street. ParkNow cards may be recharged at 50 Bridge Street, and at the Visitor Information Center.
Is there an initial charge for the ParkNow card?
Yes, there is an initial one-time charge of $2.50 for each card purchased. Once you have used all the time on the card, you may recharge more time on the same card at the city’s Financial Services Center or at the kiosk at the Visitor Information Center.
How can a ticket be paid?
Payment can be made by mail, online, in person and by phone at 904.825.1034. If mailing in the payment, please send check or money order made payable to the “City of St. Augustine” for the correct amount, with the ticket number. (DO NOT ENCLOSE CASH). If paying in person, the city’s Financial Services Center is located at 50 Bridge Street.

When using a pay-station, what happens if I purchase one hour of parking and then realize I need two hours? Can I buy another hour and display both tickets on my dashboard?
No. Each ticket will display the purchase and expiration times. Parking enforcement will be based on the expiration time on the ticket. Since both tickets would have been purchased at essentially the same time, both will expire at the same time. You would need to return to the pay station just prior to the expiration and re-purchase a parking receipt for the remaining allowable max time at that location.
How do I contest/appeal a parking ticket?
In the event you receive a parking ticket and would like to contest it, please call the City’s Financial Services Center at 904.825.1034, Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Or, appear in person at 50 Bridge Street during the same business hours. This must be done within 15 days of receiving the ticket. No appeals will be accepted after the 15th day. Visit the webpage to learn more or download the appeal form.
