About the Board

The role of the Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB) is to review applications for Certificates and Opinions of Appropriateness, Certificates of Demolition or Relocation, and Design Standards for Entry Corridors, including Preliminary Design Approval and Amendments to Assigned Typology as well as associated variances and appeals.

HARB also advises property owners and government agencies concerning maintenance, protection, enhancement, and preservation of historic resources and may designate historic landmarks. This board also reviews applications associated with the historic preservation property tax (ad valorem) exemption for the City of St. Augustine and St. Johns County.
